Virtuous Recovery:
Wellness is a Process
Wellness is a Process
At Virtuous Recovery we are focused on supporting individuals in their journey towards recovery from addiction and into a healthy lifestyle. Our approach emphasizes the importance of philosophical inquiry and practice as a foundation for lasting recovery and wellness. We provide resources and guidance on a range of topics including meditation, nutrition, sleep, spirituality, and mental health, all with a focus on living a life based on the core values of humility, curiosity, honesty, integrity, and compassion. Our goal is to help individuals achieve optimal health and wellness by integrating disciplined and mindful living into their daily routine. We believe that everyone has the potential to live a fulfilling life, and we are committed to supporting those that seek help in their pursuit of a better life.Â
Virtuous Recovery employs a multimodal approach to recovery. We believe that the key features for a successful recovery, include: Physical Health, Mental Health, Meditation, A Spiritual Community, Clear Thinking, and Habit-Building Practice. While there are a number of reasons why an individual would benefit from these things, a resilient recovery depends on some measure of all of these features being present. Part of the methodology is drawn from Aristotle, noting that in order to become virtuous people, we must participate in the world. We cannot merely read or learn our way into good character. This does not happen overnight--it is an ongoing process of learning, trying and growing. We build habits from our choices and those habits become our character. Those of us in, or recently in, active addiction know just how powerful that character can be. Through the process of re-habituating ourselves to proper practice, we can grow to be virtuous human beings. It is all about balance. Like a tree we need strong roots (Recovery) to grow a strong trunk with firm branches that bear beautiful flowers and fruit (Virtue).
